If your child or young person is referred by your GP for an autism (ASD) assessment or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) assessment, you have the legal right to choose which provider oversees your care, as long as your child or young person is a registered patient in England.

Current wait time information
As a new Right to Choose provider, we do not currently have a wait time.
The time to assessment is impacted by the speed at which you / your child can become assessment ready:
To access the service your child or young person must be referred by your GP using our digital form
You / your child will then be invited to complete registration information and screening questions before uploading ID and proof address
You / your child (and school / informant) completes all pre-assessment questionnaires
You receive a notification letting you know that you are assessment ready and are offered an assessment date

Autism service
Autism assessments take place in person at our clinic locations around the country including Exeter, Manchester and London
ADHD service
ADHD assessments take place online facilitated by our multi-disciplinary child and young person neuro-diversity specialists
How Right to Choose works with Held Health

Complete the self report form for your child or young persons suspected condition.

Book an appointment with your GP.
Email or take with you your child’s completed self-report forms.
In the email, ask your GP to refer your child to Held Health using our online form. You can attach our pre-written GP letter to the email if you prefer.

Your GP will refer your child to our service through our digital form.
You will receive an email to notify you once the referral has been made.

We will ask you for some important registration information.
Your child’s referral will be reviewed by our clinical team.

If our service is suitable for your situation, your child’s referral will be approved.
You will receive an email informing you of next steps. You will then need to complete pre-assessment questionnaires.

Only after completing each of the pre-assessment steps will you be deemed assessment ready.
At this stage, you will receive an email offering you an assessment appointment.

No wait times
As a new RTC provider, we currently have no wait times. Time to assessment is influenced by the speed at which the referral is received from your GP, and completion of patient registration and pre-assessment questionnaires.
Right to Choose
You can choose the NHS provider that best suits you and your child or young person.
Everyone in England has the legal right to choose where to receive care for their physical and mental health needs and this includes autism assessments and ADHD assessments.
Held Health has been approved by the NHS as a Right to Choose Provider. We can offer our service to children and young people all over England as we hold a contract to support NHS Devon ICB.
