Held supports young people from the age of 6 through to 18. Once we are supporting a young person, we can continue to care for them up to the age of 25. Thereafter, we will support their transition to an adult service, if appropriate.

All Held practitioners have trained with the NHS, have a minimum of 5 years experience, and hold a valid accreditation with the relevant clinical body. All practitioners are recruited in accordance with Held’s values.

We will match you with the clinician most suited to the needs of your family. We’ll provide you with options where possible depending upon availability of individuals.

No. You are able to self-refer to Held. However, we do accept referrals from GPs and other professionals also.

There are some conditions where Held is not best placed to provide support. These include eating disorders and those presenting with very high risk of self-harm or suicidal behaviours. In these circumstances we would direct you to appropriate local services.

The initial consultation is 90 minutes with an experienced child and adolescent consultant psychiatrist or clinical psychologist.

Deciding to seek help can be daunting. Our initial consultation creates space for you to share your concerns and experiences with an expert clinician. Our team will guide you through the process and share their professional opinion with you as to the best path to understand what you are facing. We want to ensure you are set on the right path to achieve your objectives with clear expectations and support for the journey ahead.

We are required by the Care Quality Commission (the healthcare regulator in England) to ensure we have verified the identification of the patient

Where possible we would encourage the young person to attend, although we recognise that in some circumstance parents may prefer to meet with the practitioner separately in the first instance.

Yes — for an initial consultation, and following an ADHD or Autism assessment.

You will receive a confirmation email following the appointment booking. Included in this email will be a link to the online appointment. Click the link a few minutes before your appointment is due to start and you will be taken the screen where you will meet your clinician online.

All information shared between the clinician and the family is kept confidential. However, a report will go to your GP. Please let us know if there is anything that you do not wish to be communicated to your GP. Where safeguarding issues arise we may be required by law to disclose information to relevant agencies. Please see our safeguarding policy for further details.

Held Health can offer sessions online and in person at certain clinic locations, including London, Manchester, Exeter and Barnstaple. if you would like an in person session at another location, do speak with our care coordination to discuss if this is possible.

Held is currently recognised by Aviva and Vitality; and is in the process of being recognised by other insurance providers. Please speak with us to discuss your needs.

We offer a full refund for appointments cancelled with two working days [Monday to Friday] notice.
Cancellations with less than two days but more than one days notice will be eligible for a 50% refund.
No refund will be offered for an appointment cancelled with less than a days notice.

All information is kept within our secure Electronic Health Record and individual clinical information can only be accessed by staff immediately dealing with your family. We have also been audited and certified under ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 for our integrated management system and quality assurance.

We are not an emergency service and do not have out of hours provision. If you are concerned about the immediate safety of a young person attend you local A&E or call 999 for the emergency services.

Held Health is a UK based service, regulated by the Care Quality Commission. We are able to support children and families anywhere in the world subject to availability and language preferences. We are only able to provide medication services for children based in UK.
