Sheena Anderson
Occupational Therapist
Sheena qualified as an Occupational Therapist in Dublin. She worked in a National Rehabilitation hospital for 9 years treating people with severe disabilities – spinal injuries, amputations, strokes and head injuries. The paediatric unit at this hospital also treated children with Cerebral palsy and Spina Bifida.
She moved to England in 1987 and worked in Slough Social Services for 2 years. She then joined a Paediatric team where she worked for 9 years based in High Wycombe.
Following this Sheena set up in private practice to provide various types of specialist treatment for children/adolescents up to 18 years old, working with many schools over 20 years. Recognition of the importance of OT prompted some schools to provide permanent use of designated space to cover their pupils needs.
Sheena continued her professional development through all these years to ensure that the assessments and interventions provided are evidence based and up to date practice. These include:
Training in standardised assessments covering motor, perceptual, auditory perception and handwriting skills
Sensory integration
Dyspraxia
Autistic spectrum disorder
ADHD
Therapeutic Listening which involves specialist equipment and can only be used/monitored by trained therapists.
She also has experience in the writing of legal and EHCP reports.
Sheena is committed to helping children to overcome their difficulties and develop in all areas to the best of their ability.
